27 pollution convictions in June
Twenty-seven convictions were recorded last month (June) for breaches of anti-pollution legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.
Ten of the convictions were under the Noise Control Ordinance, six under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, five under the Waste Disposal Ordinance, five under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance and one under the Dumping at Sea Ordinance.
The heaviest fine in June was $40,000, assessed against a person imported controlled waste without a permit.
