Expression of Interest to be invited for EcoPark in Tuen Mun
The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) will invite Expression of Interest (EOI) from organisations who are interested in setting up recycling and environmental businesses in the EcoPark in Tuen Mun Area 38 which will be commissioned in end 2006.
A spokesman for EPD said today (March 17) that the EOI exercise would start from tomorrow and close on April 20, 2006.
As a key government measure to promote reuse and recycling of our waste to address the waste management problem in the territory, the EcoPark will provide long-term land for the recycling and environmental industries to set up businesses and invest in advanced and cost-effective technologies. "The purpose of this EOI exercise is to gather information from waste recycling and environmental industries on their needs and proposals including preferred lot sizes, infrastructure requirements, materials and recycling processes; and their views on the management and tenancy arrangements," he said.
"The information collected will be used by the government for detailed operational planning of the EcoPark. Interested organisations with relevant experience and knowledge are welcome to make submissions," he added.
The spokesman said that the EOI was not and would not form part of any procurement or tender pre-qualification exercise. Those taking part in this EOI exercise would not be given any advantage or preferential treatment in subsequent procurement or tender exercises.
From tomorrow, documents for the EOI submission can be downloaded from a dedicated website specially set up for EcoPark (http://www.epd.gov.hk/epd/ecopark). The document can also be obtained by contacting the EPD by mail to the EcoPark Group, Environmental Protection Department, Room 4021, Revenue Tower, 5 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong, or by e-mail (ecopark@epd.gov.hk), or by fax (2904 7631).
Enquiries can be made to 2594 6091 or 2573 4083 during office hours.
