ACE to hold public forum on review of air quality objectives

The following is issued on behalf of the Advisory Council on the Environment:

The Advisory Council on the Environment will hold a public forum on Monday, September 18, to discuss and exchange views with stakeholders, concerned groups, academics, green groups and the public on the review of air quality objectives (AQOs).

The Administration proposes to launch a comprehensive study followed by a thorough public engagement process to support the review of Hong Kong's AQOs and development of a long-term strategy on air quality. The study will take into account international developments on reviews of air quality standards and objectives.

The forum will comprise modules on the nature of air pollution problems and control programmes in Hong Kong; the regional approach in tackling air pollution; international development on air quality standards; and reviewing local AQOs and the need for public engagement.

The forum will be held at the Lecture Hall of the Hong Kong Museum of History, 100 Chatham Road South, Tsim Sha Tsui from 2.15pm to 5.30pm. Registration will start at 2pm.

People are welcome to attend the public forum upon prior registration. Reservation can be made at the ACE Secretariat at 2594 6326 before September 6 during office hours.
