Tenders invited for tenancies of second batch of lots in EcoPark
The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) is inviting contractors with relevant experience and expertise to submit tenders for tenancies of the second batch of lots in EcoPark Phase I in Tuen Mun Area 38.
Aimed at promoting the local recycling industry and jump-starting a circular economy, a spokesman for EPD said today (September 7) that successful tenderers are required to carry out recycling activities of designated waste type within the EcoPark.
The recycling operations of the second batch of lots include waste plastics, waste electrical and electronic equipment and organic waste, excluding chemical waste, such as lube oil.
"The three tenants of the first batch of lots awarded for recycling of locally-generated waste plastics, vehicle tyres and waste wood in April, are building up their business operations scheduled for openings in 2008," the spokesman said.
The EcoPark is set up to provide the recycling and environmental industry with long-term and well-equipped land at affordable rent to encourage the industry to put more investment into advanced and value-added recycling processes.
Tender documents and further information are available at the Waste Reduction and EcoPark Group of the department during office hours, at Room 413, 4th Floor, 88 Victoria Road, Kennedy Town, Hong Kong. Location map of the office and background information of the EcoPark, can be obtained at its designated website www.epd.gov.hk/epd/ecopark.
Submissions should be addressed to the Chairman of Tender Opening Committee, Government Logistics Department before noon on October 9, and placed in the Government Logistics Department Tender Box on the ground floor of North Point Government Offices at 333 Java Road, North Point, Hong Kong.
