Thirty-nine pollution convictions in October
Thirty-nine convictions were recorded last month (October) for breaches of anti-pollution legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department (EPD).
Eighteen of the convictions were under the Waste Disposal Ordinance, nine under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, six under the Noise Control Ordinance, and six under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance.
The heaviest fine in October was $30,000, assessed against a company that imported controlled waste without a permit.
