Twenty-one pollution convictions in May
Twenty-one convictions were recorded last month (May) for breaches of anti-pollution legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.
Seven of the convictions were under the Waste Disposal Ordinance, six under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, six under the Noise Control Ordinance. One under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance, and one under the Environmental Impact Assessment Ordinance.
The heaviest fine in May was $30,000, assessed against a construction company and an engineering company that using powered mechanical equipment otherwise than in accordance with permit conditions.
