Twenty-eight pollution convictions in June
Twenty-eight convictions were recorded last month (June) for breaches of anti-pollution legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.
Sixteen of the convictions were under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, five under the Waste Disposal Ordinance, four under the Noise Control Ordinance. There are two cases under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance and one under the Environmental Impact Assessment Ordinance.
The heaviest fine in June was $75,000, assessed against a ground engineering company which constructed or operated a designated project without an environmental permit.
