Twenty-six pollution convictions in July
Twenty-six convictions were recorded last month (July) for breaches of anti-pollution legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.
Twelve of the convictions were under the Noise Control Ordinance, seven under the Waste Disposal Ordinance, four under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance. There are two cases under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance and one under the Hazardous Chemicals Control Ordinance.
The heaviest fine in July was $20,000, assessed against a bakery company which discharged waste/polluting matter into the water control zone.
