Twenty-one pollution convictions in August
Twenty-one convictions were recorded last month (August) for breaches of anti-pollution legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.
Seven of the convictions were under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, six under the Waste Disposal Ordinance, five under the Noise Control Ordinance. There are two cases under the Hazardous Chemicals Control Ordinance and one under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance.
The heaviest fine in August was $10,000, assessed against a health and beauty retailer which failed to comply with the requirements of a noise abatement notice.
