Twenty-seven pollution convictions in October
Twenty-seven convictions were recorded last month (October) for breaches of anti-pollution legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.
Twelve of the convictions were under the Waste Disposal Ordinance, ten under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance. There are three cases under the Noise Control Ordinance and two under the Hazardous Chemicals Control Ordinance.
The heaviest fine in October was $50,000, assessed against a company which imported controlled waste without a permit.
