Twenty-three EPD convictions in May
 
Twenty-three convictions were recorded last month (May) for breaches of legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.

Five of the convictions were under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, nine under the Noise Control Ordinance, one under the Ozone Layer Protection Ordinance and eight under the Waste Disposal Ordinance.

The heaviest fine in May was $18,000, assessed against a company that carried out prescribed construction work in designated area without valid construction noise permit.
