Twenty-four EPD convictions in August

Twenty-four convictions were recorded last month (August) for breaches of legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.
 
Three of the convictions were under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, 10 under the Noise Control Ordinance, one under the Product Eco-responsibility Ordinance, nine under the Waste Disposal Ordinance and one under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance.
 
The heaviest fine in August was $30,000, assessed against a company that used powered mechanical equipment otherwise than in accordance with permit conditions.
