Sewerage
System Proposed for Tui Min Hoi
The Government
is planning to build a sewerage system at the unsewered area
of Tui Min Hoi in Sai Kung to serve the rural community in
the area and further improve the water quality of Port Shelter.
The sewerage
system will effectively reduce the pollutants currently discharged
to Port Shelter and bring improvements to the sanitary conditions
of the area, a spokesman for the Environmental Protection
Department said.
The proposed
project, published in the Gazette today (Friday), will collect
sewage generated from the area for treatment and disposal
at the existing Sai Kung Sewage Treatment Works.
Works,
which will take about a year to complete, are scheduled to
start in early 1999.
Details
of the proposal, in both English and Chinese, will also be
put up at prominent positions within the works area.
