EPD
to issue API on Sundays when air quality is bad
In view
of the recent persistence of the high to very high air pollution
level, the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) will
monitor the situation on Sundays and public holidays and keep
the public informed when very high Air Pollution Index (API)
is forecasted or recorded.
"In addition
to our regular API reports on every weekday, we will be informing
the public of the API figures on Sundays and public holidays
if we find any of them fallen in the 'very high' air pollution
band," the Principal Environmental Protection Officer, Mr
Pang Sik-wing, said.
"This
interim arrangement of reporting "very high" API on Sundays
and public holidays will be continued until we commence the
automatic hourly API reporting in about six months' time from
now," Mr Pang added.
Members
of the public can check the API readings on 2827 8541 or from
EPD's website at http://www.info.gov.hk/epd/.
