Newsletter
on waste reduction published
The Environmental
Protection Department is to produce a quarterly newsletter
to inform the public what have been done in promoting waste
reduction.
The first
edition of the Newsletter, entitled "Waste As Resources",
was published today (Friday).
Principal
Environmental Protection Officer, Dr Mamie Lau, said: "Prior
to the launching of the Waste Reduction Framework Plan in
November 1998, we have already initiated a number of waste
reduction measures. We made a good start in some areas which
are highlighted in the first issue of this quarterly Newsletter.
"Through
publicity and education, we seek to change attitudes and behaviour
of every individual in our society towards waste management
and conservation of our natural resources. This is the objective
of our Newsletter," he added.
The Newsletter
could be viewed at EPD waste reduction homepage (http://www.info.gov.hk/epd).
Copies are available from EPD Headquarters, Visitor Centre
in Revenue Tower, Environmental Resource Centres and Local
Control Offices.
