DEP
expresses sincere condolence to families of victims
The Director
of Environmental Protection, Mr Rob Law, said he was deeply
shocked to learn about the tragic death of the five colleagues
who were killed in a traffic accident this afternoon (Thursday).
He went to the hospital immediately after the accident and
expressed sincere condolence and deep sympathy to the families
of the victims and said he had contacted the Civil Service
Bureau, Social Welfare Department and Home Affairs Department
to ensure that financial assistance and counselling would
be provided to the family members as soon as possible.
The five
including two Environmental Protection Inspectors, aged 30
and 36, a foreman aged 47, a driver aged 58 and a casual worker
aged 52.
They were
on their way back to the office in Tsuen Wan after performing
inspection duties in Lantau Island when the accident occurred
at about 3.30 pm.
