Environmental
education sharing session for secondary schools
About
250 teachers from over 170 secondary schools will participate
in a sharing session today (Tuesday) on how to use a new environmental
teaching kit produced by the Environmental Protection Department
(EPD).
Entitled "Environmental Explorer", the teaching
kit carries comprehensive and up-to-date environmental information,
aiming to help teachers and students better understand Hong
Kong's environmental problems.
"We
believe that all teachers and students will find the pack
very useful and interesting as the information in the pack
is presented in a lively way," EPD's Community Relations
Officer, Ms Mabel Mak, said.
The pack
consists of a teacher's guide in two volumes, sample activities,
slides, 10R photographs, transparencies and an interactive
CD-ROM with over 170 images and bilingual commentaries with
background music.
"The
packs will be sent to all local secondary schools by the end
of June so that the teachers and students can use the packs
in the coming semester," Ms Mak added.
In order
to encourage more teachers to use the pack, EPD has organised
a sharing session for secondary schools, which will be held
at Wei Hing Theatre, 6th Floor, City University of Hong Kong
from 2 to 5 pm today.
The production
of the teaching kit was strongly supported and assisted by
the Education Department and sponsored by the Hong Kong Jockey
Club Charities Trust.
