139 Convicted
pollution cases in October
A total of 139
convictions were recorded in courts in October for breaching
anti-pollution legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection
Department.
Of these cases,
50 were convictions made under the Water Pollution Control
Ordinance (WPCO), 19 under the Noise Control Ordinance (NCO),
39 under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance (APCO) and 31
under the Waste Disposal Ordinance (WDO).
The fines ranged
from $500 to $79,200.
Tun Pong Holdings
Limited, which runs Lung Shing Restaurant, was fined $79,200
for breaching the Air Pollution Control Ordinance.
