St
Stephen's Beach and Water Sports Centre closed
The Environmental
Protection Department today (Thursday) advised the Urban Services
Department (USD) to close temporarily St Stephen's Beach and
the St Stephen's Water Sports Centre in Stanley following
a report of sewage emergency bypass at the Stanley Main Pumping
Station around noon.
The emergency bypass took place following the closure of the
pumping station after the twin pumping main laid under Wong
Ma Kok Road was damaged.
Since
the impact on the water quality of the beach could not be
ascertained until the test results of water samples are available,
the USD was advised to close the beach and the water sports
centre as a precautionary action to minimise any health hazard
to the public.
