Chapter 7 ECOLOGICAL FIELD SURVEY RESULTS - ECOLOGICAL VALUE ASSESSMENT

7.1 ECOLOGICAL VALUE ADJUSTMENT BASED ON FIELD SURVEYS

7.1.10 Shrubby Grassland (Indicative Ecological Value: Medium)

The majority of the identified shrubby grassland were regarded as of medium ecological value and no value adjustment was required. Most of the shrubby grassland were found to be small in size (< 0.5 ha) and structurally less complex than most of the mixed shrubland surveyed. Comparatively large piece of shrubby grassland (approximately 2 ha) was observed at Pat Sin Leng (Site 106c). Little or no disturbance due to human activities was observed for most of the habitats visited. Only three of the identified surveyed habitats were downgraded from medium to low habitat value due to human disturbance and poor species diversity (Table 7.1k) (see Table G10 of Annex G for details).

106 Pat Sin Leng j Low Habitat was found to be a barbecue site with substantial human disturbance due to recreational activities. Comparatively low species diversity was observed.
k Low Habitat was found to be a barbecue site with substantial human disturbance due to recreational activities. Comparatively low species diversity was observed.
108 Victoria Peak g Low Habitat resembled a typical wasteland and supported comparatively low habitat heterogeneity and species diversity.
