环境局局长访粤，进一步加强区域环保合作
The Secretary for the Environment visited Guangdong to strengthen regional environmental cooperation
为进一步加强区域环保合作，环境局局长邱腾华于二零零七年九月十二日至十四日访粤。期间拜会了广东省副省长林木声及广州市副市长苏泽群，并与广东省环境保护局、广东省发展和改革委员会、广东省经济贸易委员会及广州市环境保护局领导举行会议。双方同意加强沟通合作，致力改善地区空气质素，确保粤港两地共同达致可持续发展。邱局长也参观了广州市的李坑生活垃圾焚烧发电厂及麓湖空气自动监测站，了解内地在废物处理及环境监测方面的科技发展和应用。此外，局长亦参观了一家位于深圳的港资印刷工厂，以了解厂方的运作和推行环保管理的工作，以及落实由香港生产力促进局建议的清洁生产措施的进展。该工厂参与环保署推行的「清洁生产技术支援试验项目」。
To strengthen regional environmental cooperation, the Secretary for the Environment, Mr Edward Yau visited Guangdong on 12 to 14 September 2007. Mr Yau was received by Mr LIN Mu Sheng, the Vice Governor of the Guangdong Province and Mr SU Ze Qun, Vice Mayor of Guangzhou and held meetings with senior officials of the Environmental Protection Bureau of Guangdong Province, the Development and Reform Commission of Guangdong Province, the Economic & Trade Commission of Guangdong Province, and the Environmental Protection Bureau of Guangzhou. Both sides agreed to strengthen communication and cooperation to improve the regional air quality and to work towards sustainable development of both Hong Kong SAR and Guangdong. The Secretary also visited the Guangzhou Li-keng Waste-to-Electricity Plant and the Luhu Automatic Air Quality Monitoring Station to understand the development and application of the waste treatment and environmental monitoring technologies in the city. During the visit, Mr Yau also visited a Hong Kong-invested printing factory in Shenzhen to understand its operations and environmental management efforts, and its progress in implementing cleaner production measures recommended by the Hong Kong Productivity Council. The factory participated in the Cleaner Production Technical Support Pilot Project sponsored by the EPD. |

EPD attended the Open Ended Working Group Meeting of the Basel Convention to Push for Early Implementation of the Basel Ban Amendment
为支持国家环境保护总局（国家环保总局），环保署于九月初出席了在日内瓦召开的控制危险废物越境转移及其处置巴塞尔公约不限成员名额工作组第六届会议，商讨有关实施公约修正案的事宜，以收紧对越境移运危险废物的管制。公约及其禁令修正案的详情，可浏览此网页。
In support of the State Environmental Protection Administration (SEPA), the EPD attended the Open Ended Working Group Meeting (OEWGM6) of the international Basel Convention at Geneva in early September to discuss the issue of bringing into force the Ban Amendment to the Basel Convention with a view to tightening transboundary movements of hazardous wastes. 2006年的香港海水及河溪水质年报现已发表
2006 Marine and River Water Quality in Hong Kong published
报告总结了2006年本港海域及河溪的水质状况。2006年本港的海水水质大致良好稳定，吐露港和各避风塘的水质过去十年来均有明显的改善。 2006年香港河溪的整体水质亦持续改善，水质指标的总达标率为历年最高。有关详情，请参阅2006年香港海水及河溪水质年报。
The reports provide an overview of the state of Hong Kong's marine waters and rivers in 2006. The marine water quality in Hong Kong in 2006 was generally good and stable. Tolo Harbour and typhoon shelters have made marked improvements in the last decade.The water quality of Hong Kong rivers in 2006 also continued to improve and the overall compliance rate with the Water Quality Objectives reached a record high. 促进环境评估及策略环评专业技能的国际合作
International cooperation on capacity building on EIA and strategic environmental assessment
为促进国际间建立专业技能的合作，环保署助理署长区伟光先生九月应史丹福大学的邀请前往新加坡，向参加史丹福大学在新加坡举办的环境政策设计及实施课程的人士，介绍香港在推行环评及策略性环评的经验。来自亚洲及美国的参加者，均对香港在环评方面采用的先进技术深感兴趣，包括全球首创应用尖端虚拟技术的三维环评工具，以方便市民的参与；以及当制订一些预期涉及重大环境问题的政策及计划时，采用策略性环评的做法。
To promote international cooperation on professional capacity building, the Assistant Director of EPD, Mr Elvis Au, was invited by Stanford University to present Hong Kong experiences on environmental impact assessment and strategic environmental assessment at the Singapore Stanford Programme on Environmental Policy Design and Implementation held in September in Singapore. Participants, who came from Asia and USA, expressed keen interest in the advanced application of EIA in Hong Kong, including the use of state-of-the-art virtual reality techniques in world first 3-D EIA to facilitate public engagement and the application of strategic environmental assessment to anticipate major environmental issues associated with policies and plans. |

迪士尼环保挑战奖励计划2007/08
Disney's Environmentality Challenge 2007/08
「迪士尼环保挑战奖励计划」在2004年首次推行，旨在把绿色概念灌输给香港的年青新一代。此计划由环保署及香港迪士尼乐园联合主办，我们希望透过此计划，让学生学习环境保护的重要性，及鼓励他们在学校、家庭以至社区推广环保。为庆祝计划推行五周年，今年更增设初中学生组别。截止报名日期为十一月六日。
Disney's Environmentality Challenge, which was first introduced in 2004, is launched to bring green concepts to the younger generation in Hong Kong. This is a joint program between EPD and Hong Kong Disneyland. Through this program, we aim to educate students the importance of environmental protection and conservation, as well as encouraging them bringing these concepts to their schools, families and communities. To celebrate its 5th Anniversary, this program will be extended to cover junior forms of local secondary schools this year. Due Date for entry is 6 November 2007. |

珠江三角洲地区挥发性有机化合物和光化学臭氧污染研究即将开展
Study of VOC and photochemical ozone pollution in Pearl River Delta region
环保署与安社国际环保顾问签署顾问合约，开展一项对珠江三角洲地区挥发性有机化合物（VOC）和光化学臭氧的研究，研究的结果和资料有助粤港两地为改善区域性光化学烟雾问题制订合适的控制策略。
The EPD awarded a consultancy agreement to ENSR Environmental International, with a view to undertaking a study of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and photochemical ozone in the Pearl River Delta region. The study results and data collected will help both Guangdong and Hong Kong formulate appropriate control strategies to alleviate the regional smog problem. |

屯门环保园招标承租第二批租约
Tenders invited for tenancies of second batch of lots in EcoPark
用作回收指定再造物料的第二批环保园第一期地段，已于2007年9月7日开始招租。环保园将为环保及循环再造业提供长期用地，是促进本地循环再造业的重要设施。
Tender invitation for the tenancies of the second batch of lots for recycling of designated materials in EcoPark Phase I started on 7 September 2007. The EcoPark is a key Government initiative to promote local environmental and recycling industry by providing long term land for the trades. |
