invites tenders for operating Ngau Tam Mei Composting Plant
The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) is inviting companies
with the relevant experience and expertise to bid for a contract
to operate an organic waste composting plant at Ngau Tam Mei in
Yuen Long.
A spokesman for the EPD said: "The successful tenderer can develop
and self-finance his own composting business at the site leased
to him at a very low cost for a 12-year contract period.
"This is part of a programme to promote waste recycling by providing
low cost land."
Details were published in the Government Gazette today (June 14).
"The area of the Ngau Tam Mei Composting Plant is about 7 400 square
metres.
"According to the contract, at least 60 per cent of the organic
waste treated at the plant should be food waste," the spokesman
noted.
Tender documentations are available at the Special Waste Facilities
Group of the EPD on the third floor, West Wing, 88 Victoria Road,
Kennedy Town. Enquiries can be made at 2872 1621.
