Baseline Study » Alignment Options » Unmitigated Impacts » Mitigated Impacts

The purpose of the material on this page is to illustrate how appropriate mitigation will reduce impacts of the selected road alignment option.

The illustration shows the impacts of Option 1 (Tunnel) after mitigation.  Transparent Noise barriers have been installed along the road edge.  Note that the alignment has been placed so as to avoid disturbing  Ecologically Sensitive Areas and Fung Shui Forest.  Option 2 (Cutting) has been ruled out as mitigation cannot significantly improve the visual impact of the cutting as seen in the previous animations.  Animations on this page show the improved situation at each Sensitive Receiver after mitigation and how the area would look if an alternative landuse strategy is adopted whereby the alignment would be completely within a tunnel.
