The masonry and grasscrete lining was revised to gabion lining with planting pits to retain the river ecology, and to improve the aesthetic, vision and environmental aspect of the river widening works.
(b)
Natural substrates, pools and riffles will be provided at the riverbed so as to restore and enhance the ecological habitat in the originally river channel.
(c)
Fish-ladder will be provided at the downstream side of the weirs.

Since there were many village houses adjacent to the concerned river section, the structural stability of these houses is the major concern. As such, a remaining wall would be provided behind the gabion walls.
