Common Misbehaviour at Refuse Transfer Station

  General Handling

Delivering unacceptable waste to a RTS
  • Refuse the vehicle to dispose of waste at a RTS
  • If the unacceptable waste has been discharged into the hopper, the waste collector shall be responsible for the clear up
  • Issue verbal / written warning




Overloading of a vehicle

  • Refuse the vehicle to dispose of waste at a RTS
  • Issue monthly warning letter to those account-holders with overloading record
  • If a vehicle with 10 or above numbers of overloading record (>5%of the Permitted Gross Vehicle Weight) within one month, the EPD will request the concerned account-holder to make necessary improvement.  Should no improvement is observed, the EPD will notify the account-holder that his registered vehicle(s) shall not be allowed to dispose of waste at a RTS within 60 minutes after rejected.

Speeding inside a RTS

Speed limit
In general: 10 km/hr
Tipping hall & weighbridge: 5 km/hr
Vehicle wash: 3 km/hr

Poor hygiene condition of vehicles

Dirty vehicle body, dripping of waste water, falling of waste, etc.

Serious / Multiple Records of Misbehaviour at RTSs

Under the Regulation, any breach of the terms and conditions of the Service Conditions in relation to any registered account-holder or his registered vehicle, the Environmental Protection Department may revoke the registration of that registered account-holder, such that all his registered vehicles could not use the refuse transfer service.
