The
total area surveyed under the present baseline survey
and the percentage surveyed of each habitat relative
to the area originally mapped are presented in Table
7.5a. The percentage calculated for each habitat
type ranged from approximately 0.1% for Bare Rock
or Soil and Grassland to 100% for Plantation or Plantation/Mixed
Forest. The exceptionally low percentage of area
surveyed (ie about 0.1%) recorded for Bare Rock or
Soil and Grassland is due to the very limited effort
(one day for each habitat type) devoted to the two
habitats and the small area covered during field
surveys in comparison to the total area identified
for them on the base map. Apart from plantation,
montane forest has also been substantially surveyed
under the present study. The area surveyed/area left
unsurveyed identified for each habitat type have
been included as a factor for identifying information
gaps filled by the field surveys and gaps yet to
be filled (see Table
10.1a).

e:
As the habitat was represented as dot locations on
the base map and therefore not applicable for spatial
calculation.
f: As the habitat (or majority of it) was mapped as a linear component,
the total "area" surveyed for the habitat is represented
by the length (km) of the habitat.
