The values for Total DDT varied significantly between the sampling stations but not over time. The stations most contaminated with Total DDT, recording frequent exceedances of the Effects Range Low (ERL) values, were located near North Point (VS3 in Victoria Harbour) and south of Tsing Yi (WS1). The majority of other stations sampled had Total DDT concentrations that did not exceed the ERL value and can be regarded, therefore, as uncontaminated. Statistical analyses of Total DDT sediment data showed that concentrations at VS3, WS1 and DS3 (in Deep Bay) were significantly higher (P < 0.05) than the other sampling stations.
