An EMS Manual (EM) - the
"road-map" of the EMS, outlining its structure, how it is
implemented, and the designation of staff responsibilities,
etc; |
|
Environmental Procedures (EP) -
describing how the EMS is implemented, such as evaluating
significant aspects, staff training, document control, EMS
auditing, etc; |
|
Environmental
Instructions (EI) - to control specific activities, such as
air pollution control, waste management, resource
conservation, etc.; |
|
Environmental Records
(EF) - "evidence" that the EMS procedures and instructions are
working effectively, for example objectives and targets,
training records, etc. |
The
four selected business areas for these Practical Examples
have been chosen as a result of statistical research into the number
of Hong Kong SME establishments in the different
electrical/electronics trades.
The examples will still be of some use to SMEs in other
trades in illustrating how the Generic Templates can be used
as the basis of an effective ISO14001 EMS.
Case
specific information for the hypothetical companies (for instance,
company background, process description, organisation and staffing,
environmental procedures and instructions) are shown in red to
distinguish from the generic templates themselves. Where the official Chinese versions of requirements such as
legislation, industry guidelines, codes of practice, etc, are
unavailable, only the English version is provided.
IMPORTANT
NOTE:
Whilst the information provided in the Register of Environmental
Aspects, Register of Legal and Other Requirements and other templates is extensive, it is not
exhaustive. All companies and processes are different.
To be effective your EMS needs to reflect the activities,
products and services of your company and address your specific
environmental impacts, legal requirements and operational processes,
etc. You will need to
tailor your templates carefully, making full use of the User
Manual.
