Forums or
seminars or meetings attended or organised for the Review
- 10 April
1999: an open forum on the EIA Process in Hong Kong jointly organised
by the Hong Kong Institute of Environmental Impact Assessment
and the Advisory Council on Environment EIA Sub-committee held
at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. There were 50 participants,
including ACE EIA Sub-committee members, academics, EIA consultants,
project proponents, government works departments, utility and
mass transit corporations, the relevant government authorities
under the Technical Memorandum, green groups and public members.
- 17 April
1999: a seminar on Policing Pollution- Application of Environmental
Impact Assessment (EIA) Law in Hong Kong and China jointly organised
by Hong Kong Environmental Law Association and Centre for Chinese
and Comparative Law, School of Law of City University of Hong
Kong held at the City University of Hong Kong. There were about
45 participants, mainly environmental law professionals, academics,
green groups, general public and private business-persons etc.
- 21 April
1999: a forum for the review of the first year's operation of
the EIA Ordinance with proponent departments and relevant authorities
organised by EPD. There were about 45 participants at the forum
including 19 government departments and buearux.
- 29 April
1999: a forum for the review of the first year's operation of
the EIA Ordinance with EPD's specialist groups. There were total
25 participants in the meeting.
- 12 May 1999:
a forum for the review of the first year's operation of the EIA
Ordinance with internal environmental assessment officers and
technical staff
- The implementation
of the EIA Ordinance has been publicised to all Provisional District
Boards and/or their Environmental subcommittees (PDBs/ESCs) with
a view to collecting their feedback on the operation of the Ordinance.
There were totally 18 presentations on EIA Ordinance given to
all PDBs/ESCs and their comments were incorporated into our review
of the operation of the Ordinance.
