A. General

  1. It is policy to ensure that no tree is felled unnecessarily nor, where control exists, without the prior consent of Government and that whenever possible, and appropriate, approval to the felling of any tree is made subject to a compensatory landscaping/replanting scheme.
  2. The subject of tree preservation can be divided into the categories of FELLING and MAINTENANCE for:
    (a) Trees on Unleased Government Land.
    (b)Trees on Leased Land.
  3. Private Projects - Consideration by Architectural services Department (Arch S D)/(Chief Technical Adviser/SP)
Where a tree felling application is referred to Arch S D, it is examined individually on its merits and where necessary, a site survey is conducted before advice is given.
  4. Register of Rare and Special Trees
Agriculture and Fisheries Department (A&FD) keeps a register of "Rare and Special Trees" which is not exhaustive but serves as a reference when considering applications for tree felling.
