B. Authority

1. Authorities for felling and maintenance are detailed at: Appendix I (Unleased Government Land)
Appendix II (Leased Land)
2. With regard to Groups (c) and (e) in appendix 1, while DUS, DRS or D of A&F are the Authority for felling or maintenance, Director of Lands (D of L) is the Land Authority. Therefore applications for the felling are submitted through the District Lands Officer. (DLO). In straightforward cases where the Authority (DUS, DRS or D of A&F) have no objection and where the DLO is satisfied, approval is given. Only sersitive cases or where there is disagreement, need the case be considered by District Lands Conference (DLC).
3. In the case of leased land (or land proposed to be leased) the developer/owner submits his application to the DLO who will obtain the advice of Arch S D through the Chief Technical Adviser/SP.
4. Whernever possible, permission should be sought 12 months in advance so that the root system of any tree suitable for transplanting can be prepared.
