“Our company is very conscious of environmental protection. As a socially responsible company, we are keen to organise environmental activities that increase residents’ awareness. For example, we like to publicise the importance of waste reduction and recycling through regular games.”

Mr. Lee,
Property Manager
Modern Living Property Management Limited

Kwong Fuk Estate received Bronze Awards in the 2006/07 and 2007/08 Competitions on Source Separation of Domestic Waste, and an Award for Promotion in the 2007/08 Competition.
Three bags are fixed to the wall in the lift lobby of each floor to collect waste paper, metals and plastics.

“Residents support the programme by putting their recyclables into the recycling bags installed on each building floor. This also makes it easier for cleansing workers to do an efficient job in collecting recyclables.”

Ms. Yeung,
Cleansing Supervisor

A collection box has been set up for recycling old clothes.

A barter programme is in place for exchanging daily necessities with recyclables.

Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) was collected on WEEE Recycling Days 2008 from collection points set up on the ground floor lobbies of each block.
Residents were encouraged to recycle their mooncake tins during the Mid-Autumn Festival, by using special recycling bins that were set up at the ground floor lift lobbies of each block.

Special notices informing residents of the implementation of the Programme on Source Separation of Waste (SSW) were displayed in the ground-floor lift lobby of each building.
A Lunar Year-end Recycling Campaign was organised to encourage residents to recycle their unused festive gift containers. Tailor-made posters and Spring Festival couplets about source separation of waste were posted on the notice board of each block.

Property management staff are appointed as environmental ambassadors to promote the SSW programme to residents.
